Maleficent Movie Lolita Meetup

Last month, I organized a meetup for my local comm to attend the movie Maleficent. We started off the meetup by eating at our local Cheesecake Factory. I decided to try the "Incredible Grilled Eggplant Sandwich" which was delicious though a bit messy and so thick that it was hard to keep in its burger shape. I had never actually eaten at the Cheesecake Factory before, and I wish the portion of the main course were smaller so that I could have also enjoyed a piece of cheesecake with my meal without being wasteful.

I decided to center my coordinate around the idea of fairy tales, so my Infanta high-waisted skirt was a natural fit for the occasion. I was in a rush the day of the meet, so I sadly didn't grab my Evil Queen tote and instead went with my Day Dream Carnival mook tote which has proven to be a resilient companion for daily use. Below is a photo of me outside of the restaurant with another member of my comm who is wearing a blouse and bow set from Elegy and the Candy Violet Patisserie high-waisted skirt.

We preordered tickets to guarantee we would be able to get tickets on the opening weekend of the movie. While I can see the movie's predictable turns being boring for some movie viewers, I was in love with the dark fantasy vibe of Maleficent next to the radiant life of Aurora. The tale of broken love felt like it could have been written to flow better, but I still enjoyed seeing Maleficent overcome her emotional struggles throughout the film.

After the movie, we walked to the nearby Steel City Pops for a great selection of gourmet popsicles. I tried out a coffee popsicle to great effect, and I left the meetup in a good mood. That's all for my nontes on the meetup and the movie. What movies has your comm made meets for? Did you happen to like or dislike Maleficent? 

My Wardrobe Turnover

Since I've gotten into lolita, I've sold a very small amount of the items that I acquired. All of them have been pieces which did not fit me properly in the slightest, though I still have a couple of pieces I'd like to get rid of lurking in my closet.

The parka contained in the Candy Sprinkle salopette set was definitely too small for my bust, so I sold it recently. 

This BtSSB shirring cutsew claimed to fit an 80 to 110 cm bust and a 60-104 cm waist. I guess if by 'fit' you mean, 'look like a strange lolita crop top', then yes, the fit was excellent.  

I sold this skirt recently as, even though I technically fit into the piece, the item was much larger than my measurements and tended to hang much more on my hips than serving well as a high waisted skirt. 

I also had a pair of shoes which were my first lolita shoes from Bodyline that were a size 26.0. I mis-measured myself completely as I now know that I'm a 24.5 in Japanese shoes. 

As far as my more 'normal' clothing is concerned, I have a tendency to over buy cheap video game t-shirts which then end up being seldom worn since I tend to dress in lolita or fairy kei style clothes on the weekend while wearing other clothing for work. I'm actually in the process right now of donating a large amount of clothes that I no longer get any wear out of to Goodwill so that I can make room for new more work appropriate and cute clothes.

Cosplay Adventures + Cherry Blossom Meet Up

Long time no post! Sorry I haven't posted here in a while. I spent more of this year so far making posts on my deviantart, rainbowbidoof. I've gotten into cosplaying lately, so here are two pictures of the gijinka style cosplays I wore to Kamicon this year:

I intend to share more of the upcoming cosplays I'm working on here, though I do intend to keep the blog mostly lolita related. I was lucky to be the coordinator of the cherry blossom festival lolita meet up this year. I feel like I've really grown as a lolita, and I'm glad to have found a niche and friends in my local community. To the side is a photo of me with my friend Fairy Kei Heaven during the meet up. 

The only thing that made me sad about this meet up was the fact that the cherry blossoms weren't actually blooming during the course of the festival since it was still decently cold. ;A;

I don't have much more to post today. I have an outfit shot from my outfit for Easter this year, but I'll save that for another day. For all my readers who are going to the lolita convention Frill, I'm looking forward to seeing you there! I just finished booking my room and I bought my tickets a while ago. I'll be rooming and driving there with Fairy Kei Heaven to save costs, so that'll be my next major event that I hope to get some good pictures of to post here. Big Outfit of the Day Post!

Happy belated Christmas and new year! The season of giving managed to keep me busier than I expect (worse than the school semester in some ways), so I didn't get much chance to write. Here are some of my most recent outfits though. ◕ ‿ ◕

My main complaint here is that the camera doesn't show the adorable heart detailing on the side of the socks. I can't remember a particular occasion for this outfit so... onward!

Argh, I wish I'd been able to get better lighting for this! I wore this to the showing in my area for the showing of the Madoka Magica movies, and in my hand I'm holding the free poster they were giving out. I was super happy to see those movies. I fell in love with the series last year as it was premiering week by week, and I feel guilty that I haven't kept up with the manga. (; Д ;)

I wore this on Christmas eve for church and Christmas festivities with my fiance. I was glad to have lost some weight to better fit the cutsew. I'm down to a 34 inch waist now, so I'm gradually edging closer into fitting properly into more items. <3 <3 <3

I've been totally obsessed with the idea of making an order from the gyaru brand DreamV lately though I inevitably chicken out when I see the shipping fees. So, I decided to craft my own DreamV-esque look domestically and I was really happy with the results. Plus, the best part? Each of the item was on sale at Rue21 for only $5 apiece with the exception of the headpiece at $2. So yes, that's a pair of boots, a skirt with a belt, and sparkly material top for only $17 before tax. Score! ヽ(⌒▽⌒)ノ My main complaint is that I want a blonde or red wig to go with this expanding part of my wardrobe for the future.
