Recent Crafting Fun

I've been working on making little accessories to go with my lolita outfits / for everyday wardrobe fun. One of the easier basic projects to do seems to be creating bows, so I started with that.

The set of tutorials which I used came from a section of Hip Girl Boutique which seems to have a large variety of types of bows to make which I'm looking forward to trying. For this project, I chose to use the simple "How to Make a Bow-Tie Hairbow" tutorial. Though the particular tutorial calls for the use of 1.5 inch ribbon, I decided to opt to use some 1 inch ribbon My Little Pony ribbon which I purchased through Isabella's Designs on etsy. The ribbon was just too darling not to make a hair bow out of:

Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy, Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie... Oh my!
The tutorial calls for the use of elastic thread to bind the center of the ribbon upon making it. However, I used tiny rubber bands instead and found that they were an appropriate substitution. Additionally, I had originally intended to make the ribbon cinching my bow in the middle to be white. However, I had the mishap of accidentally buying sheer white ribbon instead of something thicker which would obscure the view of the band holding it together, so I ended up using some thicker black ribbon which I had in my craft supplies.

Overall, I found the end result to be cute. I had trouble positioning the pony girls to display maximum amounts of pony through I still liked my end result.

Lockshop Wigs Entry

Lockshop wigs has posted a posted the album for their Good or Evil Outfit Contest today. I would encourage you to check it out and vote for the amazing girls who entered the contest. I also have an entry in the contest which looks as so:

I was happy to get some use out of my Bodyline headdress which I bought a while back with the devil horns. However, I am bowled over by the quality of some of the entries and highly doubt that I'll win.

30 Day Lolita Challenge, Day 27: One Song That Describes My Lolita Style

I feel like Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's song "Candy Candy" would be what I ideally want my lolita style to resemble.

As usual, I find Kyary's cute style to be absolutely fascinating, and I love the cute quirkiness of the video. Though I don't always achieve it, I feel like what I want my lolita style to be about ultimately is quirky cuteness that I clad myself in.

30 Day Lolita Challenge, Day 25: My Favorite Lolita Themed Artwork

My favorite lolita themed art has come from Neko-Vi on deviantart. I love the creativity in so many of the designs.

Though not all of the pieces are directly lolita themed, many of them have lolita elements, sometimes mixed with pop culture elements.

Recent Outfit

Outfit Rundown:
Jsk: Bodyline
Blouse: Cato
Shoes: Claire's
Hair accessories and socks: Random shop near my house

I was very happy with the way this particular coordinate turned out. I feel like the red shoes and red ribbons in the hair balance each other out. Also, I've never done a lolita coordinate where I didn't wear at least knee socks or tights. Having a coordinate which felt much more summery was nice.

30 Day Lolita Challenge, Day 24: A Picture of Me from a Lolita Meet

I wasn't sure if everyone would be okay with me posting a picture here, so I blurred faces. My boyfriend took this photo of the lolita meetup at the local cherry blossom festival. I had a great time at this meet with all of these well dressed ladies. <3

My Outfit for the Day

Outfit rundown:
Cutsew - Bodyline
Skirt - Bodyline
Tights - Offbrand
Shoes - Claire's
Hair accessory - Handmade by me

I was particularly happy to get a chance to wear a pair of wedge Mary Jane jelly shoes from Claire's which I got yesterday. I really enjoyed the comfort of the shoes for all day wear, the floral patterning of the shoes, and I managed to snag them for only $12.

Holley Tea Time Review

I have been admiring the sugary sweet pastel designs of Holley Tea Time for a while now. When she released her tights recently, I couldn't help but grab a pair of these beauties:

They combine many of her cutest designs such as the smiling shooting stars, the clouds with rainbows trailing from them and the serene looking unicorns into one place. The only wish I had for the print was for more detailing to be placed near the bottom rather than the top where my skirt will be covering it up.

Shipping was fairly prompt. I placed my ordered, and two days later I got noticed she had shipped the item. The tights arrived several days later, perfectly packaged in a padded envelope.

The tights are stated to fit ranges from anywhere to 100 to 220 pounds and to also fit heights from 5' to 5'9". Upon getting them, I decided to put them to the test at the upper end of the extremes. I had a friend who is 5'9" try them on to get a good height perspective. They fit wonderfully, going up comfortably and fitting well.

Yay for stretch!
I also tried them on later to good effect. I'm around 215 pounds, another push of the upper bounds of the tights and I was very happy with how well they fit. The pattern in both cases did not experience too much stretch to the point where it was unrecognizable but instead continued to look good.

Holley also very graciously included a free gift with the order!

I had been looking at that particular ring with sprinkles on it in her store and debating whether or not I should get it, but I opted to not buy it. This made the occasion of receiving the little extra item with my order an especially happy one.

Overall, I was very satisfied with my purchase, and I'm looking forward to ordering from her again. ^_^

30 Day Lolita Challenge, Day 23: A Picture of My Handwriting

The writing on the top line is my everyday printed writing. Not the neatest handwriting I've seen by a long shot, and it gets really terrible when I'm writing in a hurry.

The writing at the bottom is my attempt at cursive. I've been trying to get better at it since I've gotten a lolita penpal, but I still haven't used it really since elementary school so my writing is kind of rough.

30 Day Lolita Challenge, Day 22: A Picture of My Room

My room is... kind of plain and not interesting. Dull green sheets on the bed, and not much artwork on the walls. I do have a couple of features that I like in the room which I'd like to highlight though.

The first is a poster of Sailor Moon which I got from an anime convention in early February.

The other thing I really like is my collection of plushies and my jewelry box on the edge of the dresser. My jewelry collection is in desperate need of a reorganization/more room just to put all of the stuff right now.

Sock Dreams Review

I love many of the cute socks which I've found on the website of Sock Dreams, a Portland, Oregon based company which specializes in selling a wide variety of socks. My latest order from them were their Pink Knees over the knee socks. What in particular attracted me to the socks was the mention that the socks were plus size friendly and would problem fit better on larger calves. With that factor and the overall cuteness of the socks, I decided to place my order.

All socks on their website include shipping in the price, so I was able to snag my particular pair for only $6 with shipping included. I received an email saying that the item had been shipped the day after I ordered them along with a tracking number, and the actual item itself got to my house in only 4 days including a weekend which was part of the shipping period.

The item itself was well packaged and sealed in a plastic envelope for shipping. An invoice including a summary of my order was also included with a big "Thank You!" written in marker on it, adding a personable touch.

The socks themselves were tied together when I first got them out of the bag along with information about them.

Putting the socks on, I was very happy with how comfortable they were worn, not fitting too tight for me like some other over the knee socks I've tried and actually came up to slightly over the knee.

Since I delayed a bit in doing the review for the socks, I can saw with confidence that they have lasted pretty well so far. No noticeable tears or flaws exist after a couple of washings.

Overall, I'm very pleased with my order, and I say that I plan on ordering from them for over the knee socks again sometime in the future due to their fast shipping and good products.
